Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil

Today I bought a 10 ml bottle of sea buckthorn seed oil. I read that it can effectively treat inflammatory skin conditions and that it is also a natural sunblock. I purchased it because of course I want to treat my inflammatory skin (rosacea) but also because I have not yet found a sunscreen that doesn't irritate my skin. I have finally resigned that the sunlight probably does irritate the rosacea and that I should wear sunscreen and a hat when I go out. So what did I do with my sea buckthorn seed oil? I applied 4 drops to my freshly washed face, working it in gently. I felt immediate relief but time will tell if there will be visible changes to the p & ps.

  1. Hi - love your blog. I have rosacea as well and was wondering how the Sea Buckhorn Oil worked for you? I was thinking about trying this.

    1. Hi Aerin,
I'm glad you find the blog helpful! I discontinued using the sea buckthorn seed oil because I did have a new breakout. I also tried using coconut oil as some others have had success, but again I had a new breakout after use. My current skincare routine is Cetaphil Antibacterial for cleansing, prescription Finacea morning and evening, and 2-3 times a week Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask.

  2. It's 6/2013 now and I'm just finding your blog Cheryl. Is this the facial cleansing routine you still use? Over the years I have tried so many products with great disappointment. I just started using a Neutrogen cleanser...Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub that doesn't irritate my skin at all and it cleans really well (my skin doesn't feel clean with Cetaphil). I was surprised it didn't bother me because it has little Jojaba scrubbies in it. It has willowbark in it. My face feels clean, smooth and absolutely no irritation of any kind after washing. Yeah!
I have never felt that the prescription gels or creams were benefical for me...so after years of using them I stopped.
Thanks for all the info in your blog. I'm continuing to read!
